Falstaff raves about this winery.
Not without reason, the year 2016 was rated 89 points by Falstaff. The Chateau La Rose du Pin grows on its 55 hectares of vineyards. Of these, 49ha, consisting of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, on red grapes and 6ha, consisting of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Semilion, on white grapes. Butler Jérémy Ducourt processes the red grapes into a Cabernet Sauvigno-Merlot mixture, which consists of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. In contrast to the classic Bordeaux blends, the proportion of Merlot outweighs so that less acidity and tannins on the Cabernet Sauvignon and more fruit flavors over the Merlot in the mixture.
These Merlot-Cabenet Sauvignon mixes have a great affinity with the oak, so the barrique barrel mix gives the mix the decisive touch. Depending on whether French oak is used, notes of cedar, smoke and spice, or American oak is used, notes of vanilla and coconut.
For this 2008 La Rose du Pin we would
Recommend fried shiitake mushrooms or roasted venison with rosemary butter.
