Not timid Merlot
This Merlot is not shy, with its deep, dark garnet red and rich aromas of black cherry, cassis and clove. Accessible, integrated tannins frame the generous dark fruit flavors and envelop the palate with soft velvet. Winemaker Chris Cooney and Rinaldi selected Merlot from two subapplications of Napa Valley: Los Carneros and Oak Knoll. The Oak Knoll fruit gives the wine rich, ripe aromas and a softer texture, while the cooler Los Carneros region has a lively acidity and a bright, red Merlot character. Variations in soils and mesoclimate contribute to the complex variety of fruits and spices of our Merlot. Merlot is an early ripening grape variety and can fully mature even in slightly cooler climates.
For this 2001 La Terre we would
Recommend beef, game or cheese.
