Gold of the Mundus Vini 2014
This Barolo is a statement. Barolo is a mountain village in the heart of Piedmont. From this mountain village some of the best red wines of Italy are produced, which are very spicy and tanninhaltig. Key characteristics of each Barolo are tar and rose aromas, a bright red color, firm tannins, increased acidity and relatively high alcohol content, which are the key features of the Nebbiolo grape. A Barolo must have aged at least 38 months, so that he had to spend 18 months in barrels, so that he may call himself Barolo by wine law. Classic Barolos traditionally take at least ten years to tame their tannins. Today, however, more international styles are used, with reduced fermentation times and the use of new French oak barrels instead of the traditional large wooden barrels.
For this 2010 Barolo we would
Recommend smoked duck with mushrooms or fresh spinach with white truffles.
