This winery has been Cinquième Grand Cru Classé since 1855
The reason for this fame of this chateau is its excellent location in the heart of Haut Medoc in Pauillac, where Chateau Mouton - a world-class chateau - is located. This region is characterized by a mild climate due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the numerous rivers. In summer, temperatures range between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius, and rarely fall below freezing in winter. Characteristic of such Bordeaux blends are their powerful structure and deep aromas, comparable to dark fruits such as plums or blackcurrant. Usually, despite possible further mixing partners only Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are mixed, as is the case with this wine. It consists of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. The Cabernet Sauvignon is used for structure, bouquet and fruit of the wine and the Merlot for roundness and fullness.
For this 2011 Skin Bages we would
recommend Roast deer or roast venison or a Wagyu rib eye fillet.
