One of the best Vermentinos in Italy, if not the world - why?
This question is easy to answer. Best conditions lead to exclusive taste.
The Vermentino is a white wine grape that is grown around the western Mediterranean. It is characterized by refreshing acidity and attractive aromas of peach, lemon zest, dried herbs and a hint of salty minerality.
Whether in Linguria, Sardinia or Tuscany, the Vermentino plays a vital role in winegrowing.
This Vermentino comes from the coastal region of Tuscany, more precisely from Bolgheri. Right on the coast of Tuscany, the Bolgheri vineyards produce the best Vermentino in Italy. In comparison to Lingurien there is a sunnier and warmer climate right on the coast. The warm sea breezes are the cause of the characteristic salty minerality.
Bolgheri is a relatively young but prestigious Italian appellation in the Maremma on the Tuscan coast south of Livorno. The crooked coastal vineyards are ideal for growing grapes.
This Vermentino comes from a family-run winery, the Tenuta Guado al Tasso. This circumstance also contributes to the special taste experience. For the Antinori family has been dedicated to wine-making for more than six hundred years, so they have a wealth of experience to express in their wine.
For this 2016 Vermentino we would
Recommend empanadas de marisco (fried shellfish), thinly sliced squid or fried sardines.
