Exotic Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa
This Cabernet Sauvignon is native to Stellenbosch South Africa. This is perhaps the most famous wine region of South Africa, where the Cabernet Sauvignon is the most grown grape variety, but often a Bordeaux blend is made by adding Merlot. The region is located 40km east of Cape Town and is characterized by rolling hills. This combination of exposed hills and protected valleys allows for a wide variety of wine styles and mesoclimes suitable for growing all types of grape varieties. Despite the extreme heat, vineyards are possible due to the soil conditions, as the granite and sandstone soils have a high clay content, which indicates excellent water retention capacity. Stellenbosch is also known as the birthplace of Pinotage in 1924.
All Cabernet Sauvignon wines, including those from Africa, have the following common characteristics, regardless of their origin: a deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaves, dark spices and cedar wood.
At this 1999 Waterford Estate we would
recommend Fillet steak with goose liver and truffles or beef wellington with honey roasted carrots.
Further consumer information according to the new food information regulation for the consumers, allergy sufferers and the Abmahnvereine:
